Sports Marketing Product Launch Mid-Pandemic

When asked to launch adidas’ Predator Freak boots in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, we were faced with a number of challenges. ​With commercial production almost entirely halted, we had to quickly pivot to remote production, overcoming the social distancing rules by generating content in new and innovative ways.

To launch the boots, we chose to create the ultimate star studded WhatsApp group featuring the likes of David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Paul Pogba, Toni Duggan, Wendie Renard, Marc ter Stegen & David Alaba among others.

When asked to launch adidas’ Predator Freak boots in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, we were faced with a number of challenges. ​With commercial production almost entirely halted, we had to quickly pivot to remote production, overcoming the social distancing rules by generating content in new and innovative ways.

To launch the boots, we chose to create the ultimate star studded WhatsApp group featuring the likes of David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Paul Pogba, Toni Duggan, Wendie Renard, Marc ter Stegen & David Alaba among others.

The two minute launch film shows David Beckham creating the #PredatorSquad WhatsApp group, adding in other players who then send in videos unboxing and trying out the new football boots. 

The spot finishes with an announcement that Real Madrid star, Marco Asensio has joined the three stripe family, before Beckham adds the next generation of adidas talent.

The ad proved to be an innovative solution to creating an engaging piece of film that features big name footballers from across the globe. 

Not only did it allow for minimal shoot production, with many of the athletes self-shooting on their own phones, but the film also mirrors the way that everyone (even world class footballers) had to communicate during the socially distant era.
