Channel 4 has officially announced its 2019 winner for the highly coveted C4 Diversity in Advertising Award.
As a commitment to help improve diversity in advertising each year until 2020, for the past four years, Channel 4 has called upon the advertising industry to embrace inclusive campaigns beyond the editorial.
In line with the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the focus of this year’s award was the lack of representation and stereotyping of the LGBT+ community. Channel 4 tasked entrants to develop a campaign which explored how this community is portrayed in adverts and the amount of representation they receive.
With over 40 entries from across the industry, narrowed down to 7 finalists who pitched their ideas in London to the C4 team, we are thrilled to have been selected, in partnership with Starbucks, as winners of the £1m airtime prize.
A massive thank you to all those involved and willing to get behind a great initiative and idea, with special mentions to Starbucks, The Elephant Room, Copasetic Research, Attitude Magazine and a selection of brave individuals willing to share their personal stories which helped shape the work.
